A reading app where every child becomes the hero of their own story

TrekAdventure is an AI-powered, choose-your-own-adventure reading app for kids on iPhone and iPad. Every story is generated in real time as a child makes choices that shape the plot, so no two adventures are exactly alike.

Built for K–8 readers

TrekAdventure is designed for roughly ages 5–14 and works especially well for kids who need more engagement, more personalization, or a more natural way to practice reading skills.

Personalized behind the scenes

Parents can shape the reading experience by adding vocabulary words, spelling lists, decodable patterns, values, themes, language preferences, and quiz settings from the dashboard.

Made by Trek Learning Inc.

Trek Learning Inc. built TrekAdventure around a simple belief: technology should serve real learning, not just fill screen time. The goal is better readers, better thinking, and more meaningful practice.

Research-backed reading, disguised as adventure

Why choose-your-own-adventure? Is there research behind it?

Yes. Interactive, choice-driven stories consistently outperform traditional books when it comes to reading fluency, comprehension, and engagement. When children care about the outcome, they read more carefully, more eagerly, and more often.

What the research says

In an independent study, students using choose-your-own-adventure books gained an average of 23 more words per minute in reading fluency than students using linear books. Teachers also reported stronger understanding of plot structure, cause and effect, and narrative reasoning because students were invested in their choices and wanted to see what happened next.

What is the zone of proximal development, and why does it matter?

The zone of proximal development is the learning sweet spot: challenging enough to grow your child’s skills, but not so hard that the experience becomes discouraging.

TrekAdventure is designed to keep your child in that zone automatically. As they read and optionally respond to short comprehension check-ins, the system adjusts vocabulary and reading level to stay just ahead of where they are.

What the research says

Adaptive learning systems calibrated to a student’s zone of proximal development are associated with stronger engagement, motivation, and measurable learning outcomes than one-size-fits-all content.

How does TrekAdventure personalize the story for my child?

You control the personalization from the parent dashboard.

  • Your word lists: Add spelling words, vocabulary, or decodable patterns you want your child to practice.
  • Your values: Shape story themes around ideas like honesty, perseverance, kindness, faith, or curiosity.
  • Your language goals: Choose one language or mix languages to support multilingual reading naturally.
  • Your quiz settings: Decide how often short comprehension check-ins appear.
Can TrekAdventure help my child learn another language?

Yes. Because each story is generated fresh, TrekAdventure can tell stories in multiple languages and create a more natural path into multilingual reading.

Instead of drilling isolated vocabulary, children encounter language in stories they care about, inside meaningful contexts. That makes it useful for bilingual households, heritage language support, or families who want a child to begin learning a new language naturally.

Does Trek support students with learning differences?

Yes! Trek has both text to speech which highlights words along the way, but also has a mode that switches to a Dyslexic friendly font for students with dyslexia

How does the optional quizzing work?

Quizzes are optional and fully controlled by the parent. When enabled, brief comprehension check-ins appear during the story to help the system understand how well your child is tracking with the material.

It works less like a formal test and more like the system listening. The more useful signal it gets, the more precisely it can personalize the next part of the reading experience.

Fast setup for parents, seamless reading for kids

What devices does TrekAdventure work on?

TrekAdventure works on iPhone and iPad running a current version of iOS or iPadOS. There is no special hardware required. Just download it from the App Store and set up your account.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account includes a 7-day free trial for one student, with no payment required to start. Families can set up the app and begin the first adventure right away.

Why does the first story sometimes take a moment to load?

Because TrekAdventure is generating a new story uniquely for your child in real time, the first load of a new adventure can take a little longer than a standard app that pulls from a fixed content library.

Good to know

The brief wait is part of the value. What loads on the other side is a story that did not exist before and will not exist again in the same way. Once the adventure is underway, reading within that story feels much faster and more seamless.

How do I set up my account?

A parent or guardian creates the main account, then adds a reading profile for each child. From the dashboard, you can manage word lists, language settings, quiz frequency, and story themes. Kids simply open the app and read.

Built for children, with parent control at the center

Is TrekAdventure safe for my child?

Yes. Every story passes through safety guardrails designed specifically for children’s content. No matter what choices a child makes in a story, the experience stays inside age-appropriate, educational boundaries.

Is TrekAdventure COPPA and FERPA compliant?

Yes. TrekAdventure is built to comply with COPPA and FERPA. These standards were part of the product foundation from the beginning, not something added later.
