What personal information does TrekAi collect? 

We limit data collection only to what is required to deliver our services effectively. This includes basic account details like names and email addresses, as well as student records uploaded by administrators. 

We also process content created within the platform to facilitate learning and utilize cookies to enhance platform functionality and recall user preferences. However, we never collect unnecessary personal data and all personally identifiable information (PII) remains the property of our users. 

How is your data utilized?

We process data solely to deliver, secure, and improve our educational services. This includes providing student insights to teachers and monitoring safety. We never sell your data or use it to train our AI models.

We do not collect or process personal information for the purpose of tracking users for targeted advertising. We may use your contact details to send important updates and provide guidance to utilize the service more effectively. 

Do we share data with third-parties?

We never sell personal data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do share data with select third-party vendors solely to facilitate essential app functionality, such as web hosting and AI chat features, but they are contractually limited not to use Trek chats to train future models.

These vendors are contractually limited to processing personal information strictly on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions. Furthermore, they are required to maintain rigorous security measures to meet a level of protection equivalent to our standards. 

How do we secure your data?

We are dedicated to safeguarding information against unauthorized access or disclosure. All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. We utilize multi-factor authentication (MFA) and enforce strict role-based access to ensure only authorized personnel can handle data. 

Account administrators have the authority to manage and activate user accounts and assign chat sessions to designated users. Teachers can assign tasks to student; however, their access is limited to students within their assigned classes, as determined by the account administrator. 

How do we maintain ongoing security?

Security isn't a one-time setup it's ongoing commitment. We conduct regular security audits, maintain compliance certifications, and continuously monitor our systems for potential vulnerabilities. Our team receives regular training on the latest security practices, and we have established incident response protocols to address any potential threats swiftly and transparently.

Do we retain your data?

We follow strict data minimization principles. Personal data is retained only as long as necessary to provide our services or meet legal requirements. If an account is cancelled or terminated, we will delete the associated personal data. While we may retain anonymized data for longer periods to improve our product, student records processed on behalf of schools remain under the control of the institution. 

Is TrekAi COPPA and FERPA compliant?

Yes. We strictly comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). 

For users under the age of 13, we require verifiable parental consent or school authorization before collecting any personal information. 

Can I access or delete my data?

You maintain control over your personal information. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us directly. 

However, student records processed on behalf of schools remain under the control of the respective educational institution. Therefore, requests regarding the modification or deletion of specific student academic records should be directed to the school maintaining them. 

Do we use cookies?

We use cookies solely to personalize your experience, secure the platform, and analyze usage to improve functionality. We explicitly do not use third-party cookies for personalized advertising, nor do we track users across other websites to display ads.
